After successfully moving their operation there and gaining a share of the USA market, PointsBet, betting company, is setting its sights on making a big move into Europe. The company, which originated in Australia and is now based in Denver, has opened offices in Dublin, Ireland, and would appear to be looking to use the site as a stronghold for a potential Pointsbet expansion across the UK and into the European continent.
For the time being, Johnny Aitken, the US CEO of Pointsbet, while not ruling out eventual expansion into Europe, is insisting the opening of a European headquarters is first and foremost designed to strengthen their presence in both the US and Canadian markets. But European expansion only makes sense for the rapidly-growing online sports betting site.
“The Irish people understand US sports betting back to front, they love baseball, college basketball, NFL,” Aitken told the Irish Times. “I’ve been so surprised how much they have a passion for US sports.”
Already, PointsBet is investing heavily into its Irish operation. In 2021, the company purchased Dublin-based gambling software company Banach Technology for $43 million. More recently, PointsBet acquired a $65.8-million investment from financial trading partner Susquehanna International Group. As part of this deal, PointsBet entered into an agreement with Dublin-based Nellie Analytics. A division of SIG, Nellie Analytics is a provider of sophisticated sports analytics and quantitative modeling services.
Aitken envisions their Dublin office will ultimately grow to between 200-300 employees. It’s difficult to imagine the company making such a significant investment into the area without having the goal of launching in Europe at the very least on the back burner.
What Would PointsBet Bring To UK & European Markets?
PointsBet offers extensive betting markets on North American, European and other international sports events. The bet types offered by the site run deep, both in straight bets and in exotics such as props, parlays (accas), futures and live betting odds.
There’s also plenty of live streaming options available to PointsBet players. PointsBet offers an early cash out option. They provide a lucrative rewards program to regular players and there’s the exclusive PointsBet Diamond Club for high rollers. The Pointsbet also runs its online casino service, will their site be live among other top gambling sites in the UK?
Exclusive PointsBet Offers
The name your bet option is a variable that is only offered to bettors by PointsBet. With this offer, PointsBet players can propose a wagering scenario to PointsBet’s oddsmakers and they will provide a betting line for the play.
The Karma Kommittee is another unique function of PointsBet. Players who feel they’ve been done wrong by a bad beat can plead their case to PointsBet. The Karma Kommittee then rules on whether the bad beat was so painful that they will be refunding the wronged player their stake.
PointsBet Bonus Code & Promotions for UK? What to Expect
At the moment newcomers to PointsBet can access the company’s signup offer of up to $2,000 in free bets. This bonus is divided up as such – $1,000 in straight bets and $1,000 in PointsBet’s unique form of wagering known as pointsbetting. We are not sure the Pointsbet (if live in UK one day) will offer the same welcome bonus amount to its UK punters, but that its free bet offers will be one of the biggest among the best British bookmakers, no doubt. Another perk delivered by PointsBet is that there are no rollover requirements attached to their free bet offers.
With pointsbetting, a bettor’s winnings increase based upon the size of their victory. However, their losses will also be magnified based upon the size of their setback.
