Bettors are scrambling to get their slips in order ahead of the 2022 Grand National, which is looking as though it could be one of the most open affairs in the race’s recent history.
Days out from one of the biggest horse racing events of the year and Gordon Elliott-trained Delta Work remains the 8/1 frontrunner, but the gaps at the top of the field have begun to tighten.

The moving lines suggest Any Second Now ( at odds 10/1 at the time of writing) and Escaria Ten (12/1) are drawing a lot of betting interest, though not enough to move ahead of Elliott’s favourite thus far.
And British Gambler fans suggest Delta Work has every right to remain confident despite the slide, with more than 40% of voters in a survey backing the nine-year-old to emerge victorious.
Trainer Elliott is expected to enter no fewer than eight runners in his search for a fourth Grand National win at Aintree, which includes another of the leading favourites in Escaria Ten.
The Aintree showdown is somewhat renowned for being unkind to its favourites, however, considering only 10 odds leaders have won the Grand National since the second World War.
The closer we get to the race, the more punters appear convinced there’s an upset to be witnessed in Aintree, but British Gambler readers would seem to believe otherwise.
