Andrew Rhodes, the Gambling Commission Chief Executive, pointed out that the company exhibited grave non-compliance with safer gambling measures and demonstrated significant anti-money laundering control failings.

The Gambling Commission’s findings highlighted several significant failures within the William Hill companies. For instance, one customer was allowed to spend 23,000 pounds in a span of 20 minutes without any checks. Another customer lost 14,900 pounds in 70 minutes. Furthermore, the company failed to conduct necessary checks on large sums of money deposited with the William Hill companies.

However, 888, which had completed its takeover of William Hill and its associated companies the previous year, clarified that the problems which led to the fines were related to the period before its ownership.
